Bean Station is a quaint town nestled in eastern Tennessee, beneath the shadow of the rugged and imposing Clinch Mountain. Spread out across just shy of four and a half square miles, the area's real estate offers rolling hills, hardwood forests and a beautiful, picture-perfect lake. While contemporary Bean Station is modest and unassuming, that hasn't always been the case...

Bean Station's Rich Past History Includes Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, and Civil War battles

Bean Station earned its name from two brothers, William and Robert Bean, who were granted the land for their services as captains in the army during the Revolutionary War. Since being settled in the late 1700's, a number of famous faces have passed through, including Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Henry Clay, Andrew Johnson, Andrew Jackson and James Polk.

With its location on what was a major route for western-bound frontiersmen, the town grew rapidly and attracted a large number of businesses, including three taverns.  The town was the site of a three-day battle during the Civil War.

After the war, a resort was built which soon became the site of the South's premier Tate Springs Resort, which attracted world famous folk like the Fords, Rockefellers and Firestones. However, the Great Depression took the town down a few notches and changed what "business as usual" meant.

Bean Station in the Modern Day

Today, Bean Station is quaint and quiet, often overlooked by passers-by. However, it's home to 77 small businesses, 10 factories, banks, restaurants, and a number of recreational opportunities. Bean Station is home to the 85 acre Grainger County Industrial park and outputs goods ranging from athletic wear to metalized film and even furniture.
